Free Directories To Submit Your Site
It is known that the biggest % of your website traffic comes from Top Search Engines.So what about web directories? Is submitting your site to them a waste of time?
It is right that directories usually don’t deliver a lot of traffic to your site, but they increase your back links to your site, which increases your site’s link popularity – a very important factor used by search engines to rank websites.
When someone searches on search engines using a keyword relevant to your site, higher is your site link popularity, higher are its chances to come up the top of the results.
Submitting your site to web directories will help you increase its visibility, and attract more traffic from search engines.
So never underestimate the directory submission’s value to your website. Some of them allow you to free submit your site to them, while others (normally the Top Directories) will ask for a fee.
The fee differs from one directory to another…As for Top Directories such as Yahoo! Directory it is $299.00 . Other top directories starts from about $9.99 to $199.00 – any amount between it.

Thats very true that they don’t send you much traffic but backlinks will lead to more traffic. I have a link site you can post a reciprocal link on for free or for a small fee, non reciprocal, featured or sponsored. Non reciprical is better because it does not reduce your rating due to you having more outgoing links from your site but any backlink is generally good news.
You will also find links to my free classifieds site where you are welcome to post multiple ads with different subjects and content.

Good list here! I like using directories, but I prefer to use software to help me since, as you said, the actual traffic you get from directories is pretty minimal…
Directories are a good way to increase your traffic..but Dmoz has never accepted me…

Many directories are not so good anymore, you have to really look over them all before you put your blog or site in them.
