GoodBye Google PageRank

January 20th, 2008 | Posted in Google

Well, well, well !!! Google dropped my PageRank from PR3 to PR0! …Yes PR0 and for no real reason in my opinion.

I totally believed on google’s PageRank score and never thought that they play with it as they do with their search results (as they started recently!). Even in the last update (the one before this one) when they dropped many big blogs rank even by two numbers, I though maybe those blogs stopped offering the same quality posts as before, or maybe didn’t update their blogs the same way (no. of posts) they did before, or….or…or…. But No! That wasn’t the reason!

Google Is Fighting PayPerPost and TextLinkAds !

When this whole PageRank dropping thing started, many blogs started to give some reasons for it according to what they believed was their mistake with their blogs to get a less PageRank. One post about it that I read was John Chow’s post - Google Goes After PayPerPost , which made some sense to me (referring to - Google Goes after the Everyday Blogger, by PayPerPost’s parent company - IZEA) . I though Google fighting PayPerPost and TextLinkAds is believable as they grew so big in a small time, but yet they “google” shouldn’t! Google removing the PageRank from blogs that are using PayPerPost and TextLinkAds is ridiculous, but that is what is going on:

After starting this blog and Google updated PageRank, I got a PR3. So it was reasonable according to my backlinks and number of posts I had at that time…Still I haven’t started with PayPerPost and TextLinkAds yet on this blog at that PageRank’s update….that’s why I think they gave me this fair PageRank (PR3).

Then comes this update….ok now I started using PayPerPost and TextLinkAds on this blog, but kept my blog updated with unique content too, and was also concentrating on building my backlinks…..All of that so “My Dear Google” would be happy when they come back to my site, and find it growing (as with the number of backlinks and the new posts) and Be Fair when updating my PageRank! But unfortunately the weren’t!

My backlinks increased, not double, not triple, not four or five….or even 10 times But More! …. My blog was updated with unique posts, and even when I was posting a sponsored post from PayPerPost I only chose the ones that are related to my blog (losing many big opportunities because they were not related to my blog)…..But still I loosed my PageRank! If it dropped a bit let’s say to PR2 I would have thought maybe their was something wrong I was doing….But to drop to PR0, I say;

GoodBye Google PageRank! I No More Need You!

I will keep growing my blog but not for Google’s PageRank, from now on my Rank is evaluated by RealRank from IZEA (PayPerPost’s parent company). Thanks for this new great service that will help all bloggers to know their RealRank. Alexa too could be used check how good is my blog doing, although it’s not that accurate. And not to forget Technorati that also supports blogs and give them a Rank.

In my opinion I think PayPerPost and TextLinkAds should stop ranking the blogs that are using them with Google’s PageRank and instead uses IZEA’s RealRank, Alexa, and Technorati for their advertisers to chose a blog with! ……What Do You Think?!

I feel sorry for you guys, but karma exists, and you just got bit in the ass by it.

I have no problem with making money off your blog - in fact, I have ads in my sidebars and sometimes plug items to sell via affiliate sales.

That said, I don’t and won’t write about a commercial product just because someone pays me. Sure, it’d be nice if companies that I wrote about (those I like - those I criticise are probably less likely to) sent me a coupla of bucks, but if I took that money I’d be a huge hypocrite, not to mention untrustworthy. Why would my readers bother reading my site if they know I’m taking money for what I write about?

The fact is, GOOG is trying to maintain the quality of the content they serve. If they serve up spam, they are less useful and people won’t trust GOOG as much. And basically when you take PPP $$ you’re being paid to spam - I think it really is simple enough to say that’s what is happening.

For those whom the temptation was just too much, now you have learned a lesson.

I’m not even going to tell you what my site is because if my url & name are even associated with Izea & PayPerPost it brings everything I do into question, ethically. I make about $500 per month from sidebar ads and $2000 a year from a single ad in the sidebar. I only took the $2000 per year because I really, really liked the advertiser’s products, and I approached them, not vice versa. I’ve never written about their company in exchange for that. I get about 1000 uniques per day, and it’s for a very simple reason:

I write 3 original articles every week about things on the blog’s topic. I picked that topic because I care about it. Readers know if you have passion or not, and if you write about stuff you don’t have passion about, you’re selling yourself short, and hurting yourself karmically.

I tried being a Postie, but I just felt too guilty and had to stop. Luckily I didn’t try on my main site, as the thousands of hours I’ve put into building up its pagerank would have been destroyed by that choice.

Im going to start using that izea tool for my PR checks, I have almost 400 backlinks to one site and apparently no PR. Theyre quality links too, I don’t know whats going on but google just doesnt judge properly.
